Step by Step Installation

STEP 1: Remove your old doors by removing the screws from the hinges. If you plan to use the old hinges, keep hinges and screws together in a convenient location. Remove drawers from cabinets and set aside. You'll be replacing the drawer fronts in Step 20. |

STEP 2: Next, remove any cabinet moldings. You should be able to pull it up easily using the tip of a flathead screwdriver or a small nail bar. Remove any loose and / or peeling coatings from any surface you plan to cover with presser sensitive veneer (PSA). Any depressions left in the surface should be filled with wood putty and sanded smooth. With modular cabinets you might have to re-align the face frames for smoothness. |

STEP 3: Lightly sand any surfaces you plan to cover with (PSA) coverings, using 150 grit sandpaper, with a orbital sander, sand frames down just enough to scuff the surface, be careful not to round over any edges. |

STEP 4: Determine whether or not your cabinet sides have "scribes" (where the cabinet style extends past the cabinet side about ¼" on an end cabinet). If you do have scribes then you will need to either route them off with a router or fill in behind the scribe so the sides are flush with the side of the style. Simply inserting a cut-to-fit ¼" piece of unfinished plywood or hardboard usually does the trick nicely. |

STEP 5: After sanding (Step 3) and preparing for end panels (Step 4) clean the surface with De-natured alcohol on a rag. DO NOT WET SOAK, especially if the wood surface is exposed, allow time to dry thoroughly. Read the manufacturer's warning and instructions before using. Remove any dust or sand particles with tack cloth before applying (PSA). |

STEP 6: Now apply the cut-to-size finished 1/8" plywood to the cabinet end panels. Apply Spray Adhesive to back of plywood and cabinet side (cover completely). |

STEP 7: Then fit end panel making sure it is flush with the front and bottom. It might be necessary to shoot pin nails to hold until glue bonds. |

STEP 8: Strip cut pressure sensitive veneer (PSA) by cutting with a Laminate Slitter to desired stile and rail widths. Cut PSA into strips ½" wider and 2" longer than the face frames you plan to cover. |

STEP 9: After PSA is cut to desired width use a paper cutter to precisely cut PSA to length |

STEP 10: Apply Presser Sensitive Veneer (PSA) to cabinet frames. DO ONE OPENING AT A TIME. Start with the stiles. Peel back just enough backing from the top of the strip to anchor the strip to the face frame. Make sure the top edge of the strip is flush and square with the top of the stile. Then press and lightly smooth downward, peeling the backing off as you go. (Be careful to get lined up right the fist time, because the special adhesive makes it very difficult to get it off!). Now repeat step on the other stile. On the rails peel back enough backing from one end of PSA and position it to overlap the left and right stiles by 1". Align the strip so that there's an even overlap on top and bottom rail. Then press and lightly smooth left to right, peeling the backing off as you go. |

STEP 11: Using a router, trim the excess inside the opening from both stiles and rails. Use the inside of the face frame as a guide. |

STEP 12: Using a straight edge as a guide and cut all the way through both the stile and the rail PSA. Take the tip of the razor knife, remove the rail excess. Again using tip of the razor knife, gently raise the PSA off the rail and remove the excess trim from the stile. Gently smooth the rail PSA back down to the stile. The rail PSA should now be flush with the stile PSA. Repeat on other corners. |

STEP 13: File edges of PSA towards inside of cabinet. |

STEP 14: Apply pressure. |

STEP 15: Place hinges about 2" from top and bottom of doors. Then secure hinges on door to the frame. If re-using old hinges, place hinges so screws make new holes. If using hidden hinges, place hinge in the 35mm hole on the back of the door. Attach the frame plate to the bottom hinge only. Attach the other plate(the one for the top hinge) to the stile the door will hang on, then hang the door on this plate. You may now attach the bottom hinge plate to the stile also. |

STEP 16: Make sure you position each plate to the same place on every stile so the doors will all hang evenly. |

STEP 17: When replacing the drawer fronts, you must fist determine whether your drawer boxes are three-sided or four-sided. If the drawer front makes the forward wall of the drawer box, then you have a three-sided drawer box.If you have a three-sided drawer box goto STEP 18. |
![]() |
If the drawer front is mounted to a separate piece that makes up the forward wall of the drawer box, you have a four-sided drawer box.
Remove the old drawer front, being careful not to damage the drawer box. |

STEP 18: FOR A THREE-SIDED DRAWER ONLY: Using a table saw, trim the drawer front so that no edges extend beyond the top, bottom or sides of the drawer box. This allows the old drawer front to fit inside the drawer opening. Hide rough edges by turning the box around. The old drawer front should now be in the back of the drawer box. Goto STEP 19 |

STEP 19:
Replace drawer slides, making sure they are centered and flush with the front edge of the box. Center the drawer front on the box and temporarily secure with screws. Slide the drawer box into the opening and check alignment. Adjust as necessary, then tighten and add screws. |
